Sewer Pipeline Repair Methods
CIPP Cured in Place Sewer Pipe Lining
CIPP is a trenchless restoration design method used to repair existing sewer pipelines. Not only is CIPP the easiest way to repair pipelines, but it is also the least intrusive. As a result, you will have fewer interruptions to your traffic and customer flow (business operations). The first step of CIPP is to clean the existing sewer line and remove any blockages. Next, a polystyrene liner is inserted into the existing pipe and inflated. Once inflated and in place, the liner is heat-treated and cured. Then it will attach to the inner walls of the existing sewer pipe and act as the new pipeline. To sum up, the cured liner forms a seamless, tight-fitting, corrosion, and root resistant replacement pipe that can last a lifetime. Overall, the CIPP process is a great repair method for lateral sewer and storm drain lines, gas lines, and more. Learn more about CIPP Pipe Lining >
Conventional Sewer Line Repair & Replacement
There are times and circumstances when traditional and conventional sewer line repair and replacement is the correct and conclusive choice. The CIPP trenchless method is amazing. However, it’s not always the appropriate choice. If we are dealing with a collapsed pipe, an incorrectly installed pipe, or a burst pipe that has caused damage to surrounding utilities, we may not be able to take advantage of trenchless technologies. In these cases, we need to utilize our more traditional methods of removing and replacing the old sewer lines.

Common Causes of Sewer Line Damage and Failure
Sewer Pipe Damage
One of the main causes of sewer line failure is damage to the sewer line. By and large, damage can be caused by a number of factors, including:
- Soil Settling and Shifting
- Increase Traffic or Heavy Construction Equipment
- Old Age
- Inferior Materials
- Leaking Joints
- And More
Sagging Sewer Lines
Another cause of sewer line failure is sagging sewer lines. For example, if the soil conditions are poor, bellied sections of the sewer pipeline may sink. These sunken sections will begin to collect solid waste. As a result, you will experience blockages and sewage backups.
Tree Root Intrusion
Along with sagging sewer lines, tree roots pose problems. In general, older sewer lines, made of clay, fail as roots seek water inside the line. When this occurs, sections of the pipeline fail. This allows tree roots and ground water to penetrate the line.
Grease, Fat & Oils
What you place in the drain makes a difference. In fact, when grease, fat, and oils go down the drain, they harden and stick to the sewer line, causing damage.
Flushing Garbage & Debris
Just like grease, fat, and oils, flushing garbage is a problem, and cases damage. Consequently, only flush human waste and toilet paper.
