Causes & Signs of Seawall & Bulkhead Failure:
Erosion, depressions, caving, sinkholes, and voids are visible in the ground behind the seawall, bulkhead or retaining wall. Cracks in wall slabs and caps, sagging or leaning slabs, slab deterioration and slab stains are all symptoms of seawall failure. These symptoms are caused by the erosion of the ground behind and under the seawall. Most often this is caused by cracks & leaks in the wall, improper drainage of the groundside water runoff, and/or soil/ground which was not compacted adequately during construction over fear of collapsing the wall.
Methods for No-Excavation Seawall & Bulkhead Repair and Soil Stabilization:
Structural Chemical Grouting:
In granular soils, chemical grouting fills the voids and pockets in soils and subsoils pushing water out, then bonds them together, stabilizing and lifting the soils and structure while creating a significant increased weight bearing capacity. Structural chemical grouting is also used to repair fractures in seawall concrete and rock. When the grout is injected into the cracks and fractures it fills the voids with a powerful grabbing adhesive. It repairs the integrity of the concrete structure and creates a waterproof bond. This method is also widely used for government, infrastructures, industrial, commercial, and residential buildings, and properties.
Water Control Chemical Grouting:
Is most often used to stop water flow in soils and subsoils. Injection points are laid out in a well-defined grid/curtain, then under pressure, chemical grout is injected into the grid pattern which allows it to interconnect. This fills the voids in the soil and creates an underground curtain wall that prevents water migration. Water control grouting is widely used as a cost-effective way to stop leaks in seawalls, dam repair, underground utilities, storm drain & sewer systems. Underground grout curtain walls are created at water flow points to stop the leaks and water flow into the structure.
