Chemical Grouting and Pipe Sealing Jupiter
Chemical grouting is a cost effective, long term solution when ground water infiltration threatens aging sewer systems, manholes, culverts, and other underground systems. Since 1976, Shenandoah has been providing chemical grouting and pipe sealing services in Jupiter and throughout the state of Florida and Southeast Georgia.
Infiltration occurs when defects in below grade structures like manholes, sanitary sewer lines or storm drains allow groundwater to enter the system. If infiltration occurs, sand and other debris can enter the system increasing the wear and tear on the equipment and increasing the need for cleaning. With chemical grouting, pipe joints and sewer connections are sealed, reducing, or eliminating the infiltration of manholes and sewer lines. Additionally, chemical grouting is a permanent repair for manholes and can often outlast the life of the structure, if installed correctly. Another advantage of chemical grouting is that it is a trenchless technology. Avoiding the need to dig up damaged pipe saves time and money while being less intrusive to the surrounding area. If your pipeline needs chemical grouting & sealing, call or contact Shenandoah today.
The first trenchless pipeline rehabilitation process was chemical grouting. When properly applied, it is still the best cure for infiltration of groundwater
How Does Chemical Grouting & Pipe Sealing Work?
Chemical grouting works best when the pipe to be repaired is still structurally sound. Over time pipes can sag, joints can become separated and cracks can develop allowing intrusion into the pipe. After first inspecting the pipe with robotic video camera technology if it’s determined the pipe is structurally sound, the pipe will be cleaned and prepared using inflatable plugs placed in the damaged areas of the pipe. Upon inflation, grout is then injected into the separated joints or cracks and the surrounding soil. This special polyurethane grout only takes about 25 minutes to densify, and expand into the cracks, voids, and adjacent soil, effectively sealing the pipe. Even in instances where it’s determined it best to re-line a section of pipe, chemical grouting will still be used prior to re-lining. This prevents any ground water from seeping into the pipe and getting between the pipe and the liner.
Examples of Repair Applications for Chemical Grouting
Ideal for manhole repairing, chemical grouting can be applied to the damaged areas of a manhole to prevent water intrusion. After this process has sealed the manhole walls, a fresh coating can be applied
Joint Sealing – Prior to re-lining of pipe, chemical grouting seals the joints between pipes and the soil around them
Inflow and Infiltration Mitigation
Void Filling
Soil Stabilization and Densification
Chemical Grouting of Laterals. This saves money and avoids re-piping
